Mattie & Mollie

Mattie was my Golden Lab that I got while still in Seattle and moved out with us to Denver; photo is of her at Whidbey Island, WA. Mollie was our Cattle Dog mix and the photo was taken up at Clear Creek in Buffalo WY. Best dogs!

old bus & snow photos

Lower photo taken about 2 years ago before our carport went up (photo of the carport with bus below) and the top photo was taken during the blizzard of 2003

Road Trip '05 Car Henge NE, Black Hills SD, KY

After Devils Tower in WY, we went through the Black Hills SD stopping at Crazy Horse and Mt Rushmore (smaller than I was expecting). Then heading south we visited Car Henge in Alliance, NE. It's an exact replica of Stone Henge. and worked our way over to OH and I visited the Air Force Museum (very kewl airplanes!). KY is very beautiful, the rolling hills of horse country and old Tobacco curing barns.

Summit Lake, Mt. Evans

Did a training ride on Sunday from Evergreen Colorado up to Summit Lake Mt Evans (13k alt). Next Saturday is the Race from Idaho Springs to the top. Summit Lake is 5 miles from the top, in fact, from the lake, you can see the viewing platform at the top. Can't see it in this photo but it's to the left. The race is from 7k to 14k alt. www.bicyclerace.com . I'm looking to survive the last 9miles..... but I will say, amazing views. On the training ride, I saw elk running below me..... Marmots sit next to the road watching you pedal by....

Birthday trip to NYC

We took a quick trip out to New York City for my birthday. Spent most of the time in the Village and on roof top bars. I have always enjoyed strolling the streets and looking at the buildings. The gilded age of Art Deco is my personal favorite. Between reading in Bryant's Park, strolling thru Central Park and lots of Martini's, we had a wonderful time. Of course we took photos of the Commander in Grand Central and at the UN. (we take pix of him everywhere we go...)

Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre

Red Rocks was built during the New Deal. It's a city owned park and Amphitheartre (Denver owns a ski resort, a buffalo heard, an Amphitheartre and our mayor is owns several breweries and bars.... ) U2's video "Under a Blood Red Sky" was filmed at Red Rocks. It's a great place to see concerts and movies. Hence, Film on the Rocks sponsored by the Denver Film Society.

Film on the Rocks - zed is dead

Pulp Fiction, one of my all time favorite movies was showing at Red Rocks last night. The Beloved Invaders was the band (killer surfer rock). We arrived early for choice seats. When we first starting coming a few years ago, all they served for beer was Coors. Now we can get Stout from the brewery that is 3 blocks from our house! In fact, pardon any typos- I'm enjoying their IPA right now! From our seats, we have a great view of Denver and the city lights.

Skiing Copper Mtn March '07

Ok, I will admit, first couple of years after moving here in '98, I moped around Denver, pining for Seattle. But I've really come around. Go skiing on a Saturday, and then go biking along the foothills on a Sunday. Can't beat that!

Road trip 05 pt 1 Devil's Tower, Mt. Rushmore

In the Spring of 2005, we took a road trip across the country. We hit something like 23 states over 3+ weeks. We started off in Wyoming visiting Sam's folks. I went trap shooting with her dad for clay pigeons (held my own thank you very much!). I've never been to Devil's Tower, and yes, it is kinda spooky. For miles, as we approach it, it looks big and ominous, once you get there, the trail around it is only a 1.5 mile loop! It's tall, lots of birds live and fly around the column, but it doesn't look as big up close as it does miles away. Our next stop was the Black Hills, visiting Crazy Horse and Mt. Rushmore. Mt. Rushmore's heads are smaller than I expected. A path goes to the base of the faces. Driving thru the Black Hills is fun all the attractions, Flintstone Village, Reptile Gardens etc!

Windy day

It's windy here in town today (high country is getting snow today). Sam was watering plants on the patio and I was upstairs working in the office when we heard loud snap and cracking sounds. I got to the window to see Sam running for the shed as two chunks of tree came crashing down.....

City Park Criterium

My team hosted the City Park Crit today. Crits are crazy fast. Different catorgories have different times for going around the course- CAT 3 races for 65mins, CAT 1/2 for 75mins etc. CAT 1/2 flew around the course. two riders broke from the main peloton and lapped them! There where quite a few spills around the turns but fortunately nothing serious, mostly broken helmets and stinging road rash.

We also had a great turnout for the junior series as well as an open noon kids race.

Classic Crit racing in Denver!
