This mine was one of the biggest producers of gold and silver back in the day. over 1000 folks lived and worked in this valley. I saw photos and there where bigger and many more buildings. But this is one of the few left, and being that's it's over 100 yrs old, in very good condition. The mine went straight down as opposed to normal mines that when in.

Snow shoed Ouray County Rd 31 up through some great mining ruins.  it was a short trip, but one of my favorites.

Pendleton Mtn Snow Shoe trip

Killer 9.5 mile snow shoe trip a few weeks ago.. it was a Colorado Mtn Club trip. Up to a 12k mtn, then looped down thru a valley where trees had been knocked down by a storm.  So we climbed over fallen trees in knee to waist deep snow... had a blast...
